As someone who has always struggled with anxiety & knows many people who also deal with stress on the regular, it can be hard to remember that it shouldn't be a normal thing that we just put up with. Work culture in the US has been formative in normalizing distress for the sake of success, but we can't forget to take care of ourselves and put our own wellbeing ahead of work or school. Granted these things are very important, but we can't succeed in them unless we take care of ourselves first.
Daily stresses, aside from large projects, can take a toll on the body, mind & soul, but using healthy tools available to us to minimize damage are less common than they should be. Many people don't know that ingredients such as ashwagandha & passionflower can actually lower anxiety levels, as well as promote clear focus and increase motivation.
Personally, I started my journey with teas & herbs as supplements for many things in my life. Along with some physical/chronic illness (endometriosis & migraines), mental blockages are often met with heavy prescriptions, which I wasn't comfortable with unless absolutely necessary, due to side effects & family history of addiction. Why would I gatekeep what's helped me for years, when I can help those around me with similar preferences?
Ultimately though, we can't forget to take time for ourselves & relax. Take a nap, watch your favorite show, bake for fun, dance, make a cup of tea; whatever your idea of self-care is, it's important to do it without guilt because you deserve it.
